Title: An Old, Drunken Werewolf
Rating & Warnings: PG-13 to be on the safe side
Word Count or Art Format 471
Prompt: Mistletoe (#2 from

Summary: A slightly drunken first kiss under the mistletoe.
Notes: Unbeta'd this time, I apologize for all the possible stupid errors.
Remus was helping Tonks get her coat on, both of them listening to Sirius' slurred singing which sounded an awful lot like a dirty version of the Muggle Christmas hit "Jingle Bells" coming from the staircase almost directly above them.
He looked on as Tonks laughed, staring where the sound was coming from. She had morphed her hair red and golden with actual glitter in it, which he thought was very impressive.
When her laughter suddenly stopped, Remus looked where she was looking and saw it. There was a mistletoe hanging from the ceiling above their heads. She turned to look at him with a sly little grin on her lips.
"How about it?" she asked, looking up to the mistletoe.
He felt hot all of a sudden. This was not a good idea in the least, but at the same time he wanted it. Quite a bit, if he was honest with himself. So he leaned down to kiss her on the cheek. Right when he was about to reach it, she turned her head so that he hit her mouth instead. He jerked a little in surprise, but she snaked an arm around his shoulders to keep him there. Before he even realized what he was doing, he heard her gasp as he parted her lips with his tongue and slipped it inside. Merlin, this was nice. He hadn't kissed anyone in a long, long time and even then it had not been like this.
She tasted like the firewhiskey they'd just had, as well as something that reminded him of strawberry bubblegum. He figured she must be very intoxicated in order to kiss him like this and that he, an old, drunken werewolf was taking advantage of her, but perhaps he could let it slide for only a short moment. It was possible she wouldn't even remember this in the morning, and even if she did, they could both brush it off as nothing, blame it on the alcohol.
The spell was broken by a loud crash right next to them. It seemed like they had been walking backwards and Tonks's arm had brushed on the troll leg umbrella stand. Now all of its contents were scattered on the floor.
"Oh no," she groaned.
Remus cleared his throat.
"Don't worry, I'll clean it up. You should get going, it's very late. Happy Christmas, Tonks."
"Happy Christmas," she replied, an emotion he couldn't quite understand flashing behind her dark eyes.
They next time they saw each other, they did not speak of what had transpired that night and he was certain she didn't even remember it. However, the emotion he had thought he had seen in her eyes was now present every time she looked at him. Deep down he knew what it was.

Date: 2014-01-11 04:21 am (UTC)I can just imagine the two of them, trying to go on after Christmas as though this kiss had never happened, and doing a pretty good job of pretending -- but not quite good enough, heh.

Date: 2014-01-11 11:17 pm (UTC)I'm so glad they shared a kiss! And I'm glad that Remus did what he'd like to do instead of what he thought he should do, for once.
However, the emotion he had thought he had seen in her eyes was now present every time she looked at him. Deep down he knew what it was.
I like these lines a lot, nicely done!
